Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) at Renewed Vision Counseling and Developmental Disability Center is a structured, collaborative approach I use to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact-and how to shift them in ways that genuinely improve your daily life. If you're feeling stuck in cycles of worry, self-criticism, or discouragement, CBT offers clear, practical steps forward.
Together, we begin by mapping out the patterns that keep showing up: the situations that trigger you, the automatic thoughts that follow, and the behaviors that either help or quietly make things harder. From there, I teach you specific tools to challenge unhelpful thinking, manage strong emotions, and experiment with new actions that support your goals.
For some clients, CBT blends naturally with behavior-focused work offered here, including Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavior Modification Therapy, Impulse Control Therapy, and Positive Reinforcement Therapy. When appropriate, I incorporate strategies from these approaches so you not only think differently, but also practice new, concrete behaviors-such as pausing before acting on an urge, building healthier routines, or reinforcing choices that align with your values.
In session, we use real examples from your week so skills feel relevant and immediately useful: handling conflict at home, navigating social situations, facing fears, or managing symptoms of anxiety and depression. You'll often leave with simple "home practices" to test between visits, then we review what worked and adjust together.
Over time, many clients notice they bounce back more quickly from stress, feel less controlled by old habits, and experience a stronger sense of confidence and self-direction. CBT is not about perfection; it's about giving you a clear roadmap and practical tools so you can respond to life with more choice, stability, and hope.
